Meet the New Raw Divas Blog Editor....

That would be ME!

I got a job offer from The Raw Divas in early April. I officially started on April 6th. My first post goes live on Wednesday, April 13. And yes, I am getting paid! It's a legit work-from-home gig and I am happy about that.

So that is where I've been hiding out. Frankly, I am overwhelmed by my new job, and I'm still in training mode. My responsibilities include:

· Develop a content calendar that will drive the goals of the business

· Source valuable content and publish according to the guidelines

· Help to promote the blog

· Implement the commenting strategy

· Participate in the listening strategy

· Feeds all learnings into making the blog a stronger marketing tool

What does this mean for The Raw Mocha Angel? It means that I must put it on the backburner for a while. My blog has always been about my personal raw food journey. It will continue to be that blog. The focus in my personal life is on healing my entire family. I'll be back soon.

Update

Raymond got a second EEG and an MRI at Johns Hopkins. No word back yet, but I've already decided the route I'm going to take to heal my children. It's been an up and down roller coaster of emotions for me.
Today I saw this in my in-box from Angela Stokes-Monarch of the Raw Reform blog:

If you are going through a particularly rough patch emotionally and feeling surrounded by difficulties, try to gently bring yourself into the current moment and realise that right now, in this instant - which is really all you have - you are OK. Practice gratitude for whatever it is that you experience in each moment, the challenges as well as the joys.

Yesterday your partner may have left you and tomorrow you may be facing eviction from your property, but right now, in this very moment, you can be at peace if you choose it. By dwelling on issues of the past or worrying about the future, you are simply giving away your power in the present moment. Breathe deeply, do not try to cope with more than one moment at a time, if necessary and reach out to others and Spirit for help (rather than food). You are not alone and you do not have to turn to food, to get through difficult times.

- Angela Stokes-Monarch

And I won the "Stylish Blogger Award" from Terilynn of The Daily Raw Cafe. I have the ten bloggers I want to pass the award along to. I just have to get my post written.

See you all soon!

Mocha Angel message: Give thanks for what you have right now. Now. While reading this. If you are feeling down, stop and verbalize all the good in your life. You can’t help but feel better.

MRI at Johns Hopkins

Raymond right before he said, "How much longer?"

After two EEG's, Raymond finally had his an MRI for his brain done yesterday at Johns Hopkins main hospital. The people were lovely. My only issues were the wait (since they had me come in early, but he didn't go in until two hours after the appointment time) and the freezing wait room. Other than those two things, the day went swimmingly.
This lovely sign greeted me as I had planned to take all of these pictures! Lori, the anesthesiologist assistant did say it was okay for me to take photos.

Raymond playing on the computer in the wait room.

Lori, Raymond, and Kim, another assistant.

Lori and Dr. Lee, the anesthesiologist. They gave Raymond a grape-smelling gas.

Darlene and Justin, two more MRI techs.

After this part, I had to leave and go back to the waiting area. I did go eat for the first time all day, as my son couldn't have anything to eat. I didn't want him watching me eat if he couldn't have any. That was the lonely part. I just felt alone. In a sea of humanity (Hopkins is the largest employer in Maryland, larger than the Maryland state government!), I felt terribly alone. I wanted to grab someone and say, "Hey, my kid is getting a brain x-ray because he's falling out while on toilet at these random times. Can you tell me for sure that he's going to be all right?"

But I couldn't do that. So I ate my veggie burrito from Baja Fresh.

Back upstairs, I read Jenny McCarthy's book Mother Warriors. WOW! I am so glad I got this book! I found it (or it found me) at Food Lion months ago. It was on sale for $2.50. That'll be my next post. But Austism Momma Warriors, you have GOT to read it. It's giving me the strength I need to move forward.

Justin came to get me because he said Raymond was asking for me after he woke up. There I met Joan and MaryBeth. We bonded instantly. Radiology is located in the basement level. When you turn into the room, it's teeming with activity. Kind of like CTU on the late great TV show, 24. So I said that to Joan, and she said, "I LOVE THAT SHOW!" And we talked about that for the next 20 minutes! We talked about "V" (current and former versions) and the educational system in Maryland. We had a great time. Raymond just wanted a popsicle, which he got. After that, my man was ready to leave.

WE got there at 10:54am and left at 5:15pm. We were both glad it was over. Raymond is okay right now, so wish us luck when we get the results back.

Love,
Althea

Body Ecology Diet

I read this book in 1996 when it first came out. I had the good fortune of meeting Donna Gates at a Barnes and Noble (where I worked at the time) book signing in Atlanta. The book wasn't for me then. I was single with no children. Fifteen years later, I can see that this book was made for me. I wish I had kept my first edition of it.

I'm not done reading, but in short, The Body Ecology Diet gets to the underlying issues that affect ones health. Sixty percent of the immune system is in the colon. Heal the colon and you heal the problem. Donna has a special focus on children with Autism. If you have any health problems that leave you exhausted, or your children are on the Autism spectrum, go get this book.
