UliMana Raw Chocolate: Review + Giveaway!

UliMana's Awesome Dark Cacao Truffles

The day after Thanksgiving I was blessed to receive a sample of UliMana's chocolate treats. UliMana is a raw chocolate company in North Carolina that sells incredible products.
www.ulimana.com

I received a small box which featured:
-lemon fig bar
-chocolate truffle
-hemp brownie
-date roll
-chia moon drop
-chocolate apricot nut

Me and Raymond couldn't wait. I ate the dark cacao truffle. I don't I've ever tasted a chocolate treat that tasted so phenomenal. That truffle was pure bliss...like a moment in time I never wanted to end. It was hands down, the single best chocolate I have ever had. No chocolate candy bar on Earth can compare.

I had to share the rest of my samples with my oldest child (or did I?...I was nice to him. He does have an advanced palette for a seven-year-old). We both loved everything. The brownie was rich and fudgy. Raymond's favorite was the lemon fig bar. We liked the treats so much that we'd eaten them all before I could take a picture of them.

So I took a picture of the empty box....

I know, right?

If you think I was just hungry (I wasn't), read about the good energy that UliMana puts into their treats. From the "About Us" section of their website:

UliManaMana (UliMana is a shortened version) is a made up name whose origins come from the 35,000 year old
Huna tradition, a Polynesian/Hawaiian science practiced by the aboriginals of that region. In Hawai'i, this teaching was originally called Ho'omana (to make Mana or life force energy) and means Empowerment. The people who practiced these teachings and techniques knew that all power and all life force emanated from the One, I'o, the source of all life-- the source of all energy.

Uli is the name of the goddess from the Huna science who oversees the feminine domain and is also known as the 'Goddess of Serenity'. Mana means life force energy. When you have a lot of Mana, (as in ManaMana), you are healthy and vibrant. When speaking the name UliManaMana you are asking the goddess Uli for the blessing of life force energy and vibrant health. We wanted the name of our company to mean something positive and uplifting. So say it often as you eat our chocolate and have gratitude for the gifts bestowed upon you.

To feel that gratitude, go to the UliMana website, read more about these awesome people, and treat yourself to some incredible raw treats. You will thank me.

You know what? I don't know if I have a FAVORITE dessert. I tend not to get too stuck on something because I feel like one day I won't be able to find it when I need it. Being vegan, my taste and requirements for certain foods isn't as strong as it maybe have been 8yrs ago. I LOVE trying new foods more than ever now. And with that said, would love to win the truffles.

My favorite dessert... what a tough choice!

It's probably a tie between:

Very fresh raspberries and a huge block of higher-quality dark chocolate, not fancy, just tumbled onto a plate together with a big knife to chip away at the chocolate. It's kind of messy, but the taste is exquisite.

and

Coconut sorbet, drizzled with a sauce made of dark chocolate melted with a little orange liqueur, and topped with mandarin orange slices.

Nomnomnom!

A SINGLE favorite dessert? That's wonderfully difficult! It might be pumpkin pie, or a good chocolate-peanutbutter treat (like the half and half cookies, then spread with chocolate frosting--horrible for your teeth, by the way, but yummy for your tummy), or homemade ice cream with homemade chocolate fudge. And that's just off the top of my head. I'm already dreaming about those truffles . . . :-)

My favorite desert is served in half a coconut shell with sprouted and dehydrated buckwheat sprouts, borage flower petals, soaked/sprouted quinoa, native raw organic pecan halfs, Juliano's Black tar (sauce) drizzled over my homemade fresh raw vanilla bean ice cream. I usually splash some extra raw milk around the edges if it's cold outside.
It is just a hair more favored than a perfectly ripe fresh dessert fig.
My favorite desert used to be those dream bars made with all that butter and graham cracker crust, with chocolate bits, dates, pecans and sliced coconut covered with sweetened condensed milk LOL and baked til it was somewhere between sticky and chewy. The problem is the way it masks and destroys my taste buds, unlike the dessert fig, which alivens them. Perhaps a live version would be appealing.

Good chocolate for me, leaves the palate clean and fresh-- no fuzz, and no filmy masking layer.

I have lots of favorite desserts, so my dessert of the moment for blustery late fall evenings is one I just made last night: Tapioca pudding made with local eggs, local goat milk, maple syrup, and vanilla. Top with pomegranate molasses, if so desired. YUM!

I agree that it's impossible to pick a favorite. In the summer it's always something with fresh fruit or a fruit tart. In winter I tend towards chocolate or lemon. I have too many to pick because I love sweet - anything from a good dark chocolate truffle to cookies to tarts. Yum!

-My favorite desserts toggle for my affection: raw pumpkin pie and raw cacao pudding. ...Although, fickle-hearted lover of yum that I am, a bowl of raspberries, ripe persimmon or coconut 'ice-cream' are always good, good too. naturally all things ULI are TRULI gorgeous as well. :D

May Canadians enter? It's really hard to choose a favourite dessert, but I think mine is huckleberry pie.

I love lemon sorbet, the more sour, the better! I have such a weak spot for desserts, but I will definitely pass up everything and anything in favor of sorbet!
